• Re: Beogram 5500 CD

Of course it can be repaired. A shame that many repair shops today just want to replace modules, instead of actually trying to repair things. Many just want to replace the CD-drive mechanism instead of actually trying to repair the machine. And to this model the CD-drive is no longer available. But -it is probably not the drive/laser that is the problem

I'll stick to my audio/video equipment, and not bore you with my vacuum-cleaner or toaster JUST KIDDIN' Graham! (sorry -I couldn't resist) Besides B&O i have: -A Harman-Kardon DVD player (as I never liked the design of the DVD 1 -a DVD player in a VCR cabinet ). The HK looks a bit like the units of the 5000/5500/6500/7000 ranges. -A

  • Re: Beogram 3300 Platter Compatibilty

Hmm -Interesting, Dave. Did You buy the RX2 from new - or second hand..? I've been looking through my B&O catalogues and I have never seen this version. (I've acually owned an RX2 some years ago -not with this platter, of course). IF you have bought it second hand, the previous owner could have changed the platter...Or maybe B&O -at

  • Re: Buying advice please!

I would say that the price is OK. Even here in Denmark I haven't seen Pentalabs cheaper than that. Even if they are only gonna be used as Pentavoxes, it's okay. There is probably foam rot - but only in the mid-range units. The bass units have rubber sourrounds, so they should be fine (but you'll have to listen to them). Ofcourse they are

  • Re: Seriously?!

Yeah - incredible. Anybody from Beoworld bidding on this..? I'm so glad to live in Denmark -last year I bought a fully functional CDX for 1/3 of that price... Next time I'm going to sell some B&O, I'll be going for the US-market...

  • Re: Beocenter 8500 battery?
If I unplug the sytem for any length of time, when I turn it on again (any function) the volume is set at zero & the balance is set at full left hand side. All of the previously saved radio stations also disappear.
My Beomaster 5000 (80's model) is doing exactly the same. Until I can have the battery
Steffen>> Do you mean the laser unit, not laser lens ? I have good experience by replacing wit VAM12xx types, but it is important you are getting the right one. The one for the CDpro has got a metal shield mounted on the pcb at the laser, the one for the CMD12ind has got a TDA1302T ic on the pcb and no metal shield
A note about the Ouverture: I've seen a couple of cases where the laser was physically blocked. It needs to move closer to - or away from the CD to find the focus point and to do that it uses a voice coil system to move the whole diode/lens system, involving the coil(s) and a flat metal (magnet) piece. In the Ouverture
There are no belts that can be adjusted and the service manual does not show how to repair the sliding doors!!
Well -how do you know..? The service manual DO actually show how to repair the sliding doors!!! OK -there's no belts...It's called a Cord drive. In the service manual called Part 5 (vol3b
