The tvs send out the two images using polarised light. It will look like normal tv until you put on some daft looking specially polarised glasses to separate the images for your eyes to make you see 3D. Same as the IMAX cinemas.

When you connect it to the DVD player, there is no output - complete silence. If you turn the amp off, you say you hear a quiet hum from the speakers. This implies that when the amp is switched off, the outputs become disconnected from any active circuitry (such as the DVD player tying the signal to ground), and it's picking up any old random interference

100Hz or 200Hz isn't necessary at all. Most CRTs were only 50/60Hz up until quite late in their development, and there was no blurring. The difference was less of a 'flickering'. People strive to get 24fps for their films, which is 24Hz - which is what they're recorded in. There's no flicker on LCD or Plasma, as they don't scan

Puncher: The external dimensions given are 1061 x 651 which would give an outside diagonal dimension of ~49". So it does. I get an outside diagonal of 124.5cm, which is smaller than the quoted picture size. I think it's fairly safe to say this spec sheet isn't very accurate!
-
Except for the fact that 126.9cm is 50". I suppose they could have merged two specs together!

It has to be garbage. The official spec sheet says it has a 1920x1080 pixel panel, which is capable of showing 1080p. It can't display 1080i without it first being bodged into 1080p by processing, so there's no reason I can think of that they would have prevented it showing 1080p native. http://www.bang-olufsen.com/UserFiles/File/ts/BeoVision4_en

LCD/Plasma screens either have enough pixels to display 720p or 1080p. They can't display 1080i formats natively, as that's just not how they work. If you feed a tv an interlaced signal, it will have to create a progressive one on the fly using two halves of a frame that weren't processed to appear at exactly the same time - hence quick

Found the picture - looks quite smart. That's also a possible solution, as the furniture my tv stands on is going to be replaced before I embark on swapping all the audio kit. The stuff it's on is very cheap Ikea furniture that was the closest to what I wanted that I could find at the time. I've attached a (truely awful iPhone) picture of

Thanks - those look quite useful! There's also a dado rail in the room which limits my options a bit. Putting it below would be too low, and above would be too high. I'll have a think about what I'll do - it's not going to be for at least 6 months yet!

When you reply (proper reply, not quick reply), there's a few 'tabs' along the top. Click 'Options' and it gives the 'add attachment' option. I think you just have to browse and hit upload.
