Alex, Thank you for replying to my question. So, even if I go HDMI out from the Apple TV to a BV8 and then have BL3s connected via the PL output on the BV8, I'd still be subject to Apple TV's DAC and it's poor quality? I ask as it would seem that music in the Apple lossless format would be flowing digitally right to the BL3s, but maybe the

Soundproof, Thank you very much for taking the time to answer my questions. At the risk of becoming a pest, I wonder if I couldn't talk you in to expounding further on a few points. This lack of inputs has made me think up some questions that I'd like to pose to the group (any input would be greatly appreciated): 1. Are Scart inputs of comparable

Dear Gang, First off, I'd like to thank so many of you for helping me with pre-purchase questions regarding the BV8; those answers helped make my purchasing decision a lot easier. I just received the TV today and though I haven't actually hooked it up yet, it's beautiful. And, the B&O label on the front speaker is really not very apparent

Mr. Moulton, Regarding Apple's implementation of audio, would this poor quality still hold true if you were beaming (via WiFi) Apple lossless files to an Apple TV that was in turn connected to a BeoVision TV and then output (via the TV) to some BeoLab 3s? TIA, Mark

Simon, I certainly respect your opinions, and I likewise feel somewhat odd writing so many "pro-Apple" responses in various threads here on BeoWorld (and I'm probably the worst transgressor in these regards). However, I think those of us who do so are truly saying these things in the hopes of B&O hearing us as we are obviously afraid

Simply out of curiosity I'd like to hear a counter argument to my original question (which as best I can tell has gone unanswered): How will the BS5 beat my BV8 / BL3 / AppleTV set-up? With my proposed set-up (assuming music is encoded in "lossless" format from store bought CDs), what do I lose compared to the extra several thousand dollars

Munin, I completely agree with your very succinctly expressed thoughts - i.e. that Apple is the elephant / 800 pound gorilla in the room and if B&O ignores or tries to compete against Apple, B&O will fail to flourish as it otherwise would if it cooperated with the future leader in media distribution software. I literally pray that B&O is
-
Soundproof, Eloquently put - I couldn't agree more. I've followed your posts on Beoworld for some time and I find it reassuring that our views are similar despite my comparative lack of A/V knowledge compared to you (and I mean this in all sincerity). Simon, At the risk of appearing too rude, adversarial, or sarcastic, are you familiar with

Roger, We think alike. I'd like to add one more thing. iTunes is an incredibly powerful piece of software that transcends both major computing platforms. A large team of gifted programmers has evolved that piece of software in to what is arguably one of the finest pieces of code ever written (certainly so as it pertains to the Windows system). B&O

RussR, " rest assured that the BeoSound 5 will be every bit the "home run" many BeoPhiles are seeking" I certainly hope you're right. Don't let my worries about B&O create the impression that I'm not a B&O fan. In fact, I want to be wrong and I want the BS5 to be a success (though it'll certainly poo poo the
