• Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?
Roxy Music - Avalon Need to finally get that whole album. It has been evading me for years and years.
Fantastic album, was listening to it earlier actually as I've just moved my speakers - one of my standard "I wonder what this will sound like?" test albums. Sounds especially good on vinyl, but

  • Re: The Loudness Wars
How true. Some like to talk over music, and some like to listen to music -- you can often tell which is which by how their music systems are tuned.
Absolutely! I know two people who own Bose Lifestyle systems, and I can be pretty sure neither of them have ever really sat down and listened to music on their

  • Re: The Loudness Wars

It's probably worth noting that the 'Loudness Wars' to which Puncher is referring (in the opening post of this thread) is actually not about the 'loudness' switch or tone controls on your stereo, but instead the way in which a large proportion of modern recordings have been 'mashed' to make absolutely everything the same

  • Re: Clarkson on B&O
Sounds like B&O should get him over to Struer for re-education, and replace those damn awful Panasonic plasmas in the studio aswell.
Maybe they should also replace those 'damn awful' Panasonic plasma elements B&O use in their plasma-based sets then B&O do a lot more in-house than most other

  • Re: Balanced XLR to Powerlink? (Beolab 3)

Run the Multiface on it's -10dB setting (in the FireFace settings app). I would also always add an analogue volume control between the interface and the speakers. Out of interest, how do you find the Sub10? I've been toying with the idea of adding a sub to go with my Adam A7s, although I've heard very few subwoofers which I'd consider

  • Re: DAC with Mac?

I wouldn't even think of plugging in the BeoLabs until you've got some sort of analogue volume control between the speakers and the DAC. Using a digital volume control inside apps is a disaster waiting to happen (think of how rubbish the volume control on YouTube, iPlayer or any other website is). Lately, Spotify have been putting all their

  • Re: what;s your favourite audio recording

John Martyn - Solid Air is a fantastic album, loads of depth and dynamics. Beautifully recorded and his voice is really distinctive. 100% recommended. If your speakers can do the whole 'front-to-back' thing (proper 3-dimensional imaging), then you'll hear it with Solid Air...

  • Re: Beolab 8000 "look alikes" from DK

All metal casing? Have fun getting good thick mains cable into the binding posts without it shorting. Unless of course they're made out of a plastic of some sort, which wouldn't surprise me looking at the pictures...

  • Re: Testing a Beomic 2000

Not hugely relevant to you as a seller, but if the buyer is planning on using it for recording, it'll probably need a re-ribbon regardless of whether it's currently working or not. Ribbon elements in all ribbon mics wear out after a while, but there are plenty of people about who will install a new element for you. It's really, really important
