True, but a decent cartridge will be expensive! That is the problem. You must understand that I have Beograms myself (more than is strictly sane) but I also have a rather large supply of cartridges. I wouldn't want to start collecting these again.

If the 1902 works, and is cheap, you could get it anyway. If you prefer the surround of the 1102, the parts will just swap. I would however not swap arms etc as this is very complicated, as Martin says. The 1902 has a heavier platter.

I don't think the TX2 has Datalink - In the EU, I think it comes with a 5 pin DIN - it may have RCA plugs in the US.

I had a rosewood pair for years. These were my main speakers and were used first with a 2400-2, then a 5000 stacking system and finally with a 9500. I loved them. They are not, if truth be known, the most accurate of speakers - the bass is a little loose and the top end slightly strident, but it is a little like having a speaker with mild loudness on

If you want it to sound like the Rega, you need a new cartridge. A SoundSmith one will sound much more like what you expect. Not cheap though. I could lend you one to try - though it is away just at the minute!

Try plugging it in the CD socket of the BM5500. That uses phono commands.

Easier to use a completely new cable. If using it without the RIAA, a full wired Powerlink cable with the centre pin removed works well.
