The Beosound 2 was introduced in 2002. There appears to be something incorrect about the serial numbers you stated because the first two digits normally define the year of manufacture, with this year being 21 !!

The Beolab 3500 does NOT have phono input (Both Old & New models) The older version can only be connected to MCL (Master Control Link) or ML (MasterLink) The newer version can be connected to ML (MasterLink) or PowerLink and can be used with Beolink Wireless

Lars, On reviewing it again, I see the 8111 is correct for a Northern Europe model 50 Hz version (Mark I & Mark II) which means its age is actually prior to April 1997 because that's when B&O stopped manufacturing them. I would certainly return the AVANT for a more up to date model and certainly beyond the serial number stated previously

Lars, The reason your AVANT does not work in your guest room is because it is a MASTER device ONLY on the Masterlink. You cannot have two Master devices on the same Masterlink, well you can, but it will not work. You could tune in the link frequency (normally 591 Mhz Channel 36) and have it work effectively as another analogue TV and you would need
