seanklemis: they are currently at the price normal dvd's were when they first come out Correct, but my point was (see page 1) that SD DVDs drop like a stone, price wise, after a couple of months, whereas Blu-rays remain the same. General public aren't stupid in this respect - HMV drop the price of even the most recent blockbuster to around £8

msinn: Moxxey, following your argument nothing will become popular and cheap, even DVDs would still be high in price and unpopular. It's a process, wihich starts slowly. For DVDs it took a couple of years. The end of HD-DVD is a start. So Blu-rays get a bit more popular. From that, the price will drop a bit, which makes them a bit more popular,
-
seanklemis: if yu think when DVD first come out it was upwards of £20 a disk now you can get tehm for £6 its the same with everything when / If they are out for a while the prices will drop, Yes, but they have to become popular first! Blu-rays won't drop, unless they become popular. They won't become popular, if they are very expensive

jk1002: Beocare confirmed that they are working on blueray in their forum. No, they didn't confirm they were 'working on it', they confirmed they were looking in to it and nothing (ie. the results of looking in to it) would be expected for 'about a year'. That was Feb this year. They didn't say "you'll get a Blu-ray

soundproof: I wonder how long Blu-ray (BD) will be around? We'll have Full-HD, I'm just not certain that we'll have Blu-ray disks. The format's really not taking off. Most likely as the Blu-ray discs are waaaaay too expensive. You can go out and buy a 4 month old SD DVD for about £6, whereas the same Blu-ray is still £18

355f: Jez: Why not just use a PS3, B&O software supports it, PS3 will up grade constantly through it's wireless network without even having to do anything. I'm using BV4 50"/BS3 with software 4.24 and a PS3 that just uploaded to 24fps and couldn't be happier. are you getting the white flash problem please? 355f, the white flash

RussR: Were I in the position to purchase a BV-7 at the moment, I think I would do so unhesitatingly, plug an.. Or a PS3 as someone said here. Completely correct Russ. BV7-40 is a great TV; superb with the right source. Watch a very recent Blu-ray via a PS3 on the BV7-40, and it's great. If people are waiting for DTS-HD, fine. Wait. Uncompressed

Doc: Don't see the updates as a problem: my BV7 will receive it's third update (4.24) soon. And if you buy a standalone player it will become outdated to. Correct, but that's not the B&O style. Also, it's up to the dealer if they want to give the end-user a free sw update. Most do, from time to time, but some - as we've seen
-
Doc: A retro fit will be a B&O novelty, will it not? The biggest problem with an internal drive is the constant sw updates Blu-ray drives receive. I'd expect B&O to be overly cautious and wait for the dust to settle, before they committ. Nothing worse than customer who expect long-term products, when their drive is out of date within a year

Cool. I'm on a very limited 3G connection and all the images are eating my bandwidth. Had to turn-off image support in the browser. sw 4.24 - no major issues here, but then I've been told that my TV will have to be upgraded again, which is confusing. Not sure why, but will find out after speaking with my dealer. It's definitely on the TV
