martin01: Hi 355f, What I understand, it IS possible to upgrade BS3. Maybe it will be a MarkII-version. No, you've mis-read his post, too. He means that *his* already purchased BS3 won't be upgradable. He's a bit annoyed (and I share this grief) that he's paid £5K for a product that can't be upgraded to support True HD etc

martin01: My answer to you is that you can not say that Uncompressed PCM is better than Bitstream... I'm sure they are, but then the other problem is the type of speaker that most average users have to playback this 96khz/24 bit audio. It's way superior than the average consumer's current set up. Do you really believe that a DTS-HD track

martin01: Moxxey, bitstream is NOT a sound-codec. Bitstream is as a zipped file in your computer. I know. Where does it say I class it as a codec? Which is why I describe it as "Bitstream is like a container". Like a box of information. I also say that PCM is uncompressed. Please re-read again.

martin01: Hi Moxxey, You will get exactly the same sound if you listen to DD or Dolby True HD if you send the sound as Bitstream from your player to BV7-40, because there is a DD-track in the TrueHD-track. Your sound-improvement can depende on different volume-levels inte the two sound-tracks. Beosystem 3 (BV7-40) decode the the two sound-tracks exactly

martin01: One thing about the new codecs: In DolbyTrue HD, there is a ordinary DolbyDigital track in the HD-track. Which means that 335f is correct. However, still unsure why the audio was improved switching from standard Dolby 5.1 to True HD.

beojeff: And this: I have this, but it seems to block quite easily. I'm looking for a better espresso maker (well, when I get some money together), later this year.
-
soundproof: moxxey: Perhaps later BS3 sw updates have updated with new versions of the Dolby licensed codecs? I don't know. I used the most recent spec's I found for BeoSystem 3 at the B&O site. If the signal is processed in an HD-Audio capable player, and then sent analogue to respective AUDIO IN channels on the BeoSystem 3, then you'd
-
soundproof: I'm adding this here, for comparison - these are the corresponding surround sound formats for an HD-Audio capable processor, the Pioneer LX60. You'll note there are several extra codecs, and it's probable that the BeoSystem 3 does not perform native processing on these, but instead translates to a supported format: Eh? A codec

mjmedlo: Just wanted to complement the 7-1 any one else have the 7-1? it seems to really bring these movies to life! I had the 7.1 with my BV7-32 for 3 years. I then had the 7.2 with the BV7-40. I too thought it was fantastic. However, the 7.4 is even better, with the correct speakers. For instance, get the 7.4 with the BL9's and it's a step

Razlaw: Anybody with a Blu-Ray player that decodes Dolby True HD want to try these menu steps and see what the BV7/9/BS3 displays if the player is set up to output TrueHD and TrueHD is selected in the Disc's on screen set up menu? Yes, as I said above! The PS3 will output True HD and the BS3 will accept. As I said, the sound is crisper and more
