  • Re: AppleTV Distribution?

Sorry to join in on a more general point - I hadn't realised that the RF modulator wouldn't modulate and, as a result, downscale HD inputs. My parents BV7 has a Sky HD box connected by HDMI and by SCART. Does this mean that the BV7 can see the HD source, but the link rooms are getting the SD modulated version? If so, how is this set up? Can

  • Re: Bang & Olufsen sees FY loss on weak pre-Xmas sales

355f: Yes! But go back to the start of the posts and you will see that it is manufacture dependant- it is not a rule! hence the reason why some products work and others dont. So for examplePioneer had HDMI problems in some models, as do every major brand for which we produce. The theory is correct- the reality is different! That said, your reality does

moxxey: I thought a standard Dolby 5.1 track was compressed, whereas an uncompressed PCM track was more superior (due to the lack of compression)? Many Blu-ray boast that they support uncompressed PCM, compared to the standard Dolby 5.1 track on the SD DVD. So, there surely is a difference between the two? This is the point that seems to be being missed

  • Re: Bang & Olufsen sees FY loss on weak pre-Xmas sales

moxxey: With an uncompressed PCM stream, the audio quality is clearly going to be superior to that of a standard Dolby 5.1 track you'll find on an SD DVD. Therefore your theory of 'better audio = definite HD audio support' isn't valid. ??? An uncompressed PCM stream from a DD 5.1 source will sound EXACTLY the same as the DD 5.1 source

  • Quick lintronic query

Just looking into these boxes.... Am I right in thinking you can't have triggers such as GO 1 or GO RIGHT? This is how the Beo4 is used to control my Sky box, so it would be helpful if I could make it control my media center pc in approximately the same way. It would seem from what I've read that this can't be done. How would anyone control

355f: Ok this has little to do with compliancy- obviously, if it was not at all compliant you get a blank screen which in fact is what transpired when the BS3 first came out when connected to a sky box. The issue really is how the receiver handles the incomming stream and what it does with it. In theory, reading all the internet data on the subject

355f: Correction you will hear the fundamental sound track so to suggest you will hear nothing is not correct. Additionally, one can end up with dumbed down HD audio as a result of compliance issues and this is proven to be the case with all panasonic BR linked to BS3. The 'specification' of HDMI and its reverse compatablity is not a prcise

Razlaw: 1.. BS3 does NOT decode dolby hd or dts hd 2. Decoding may be done in a blu-ray player 3. if the player does the decoding, it decodes it into a multichannel linear pcm which the BS3 accepts via HDMI and does output. As I said, the BS3 will display that info. 4. The only question is the maximum level, 48, 96 or 192 khz. The vast majority of blu

  • Re: Beocenter 6-23 and DVI input

ridmaur: I've been told by local dealer the BV 6-23 is no longer offered by B&O; is that true? This is what I was told. I wanted one for my bedroom (26" was too large). I would imagine most dealers would be able to find you one from somewhere. Mine had a new one in their storeroom that was available, and it was in the colour I wanted (black

  • Re: BL8000 power off issue

the ~10k resistors would definitely be something I'd try - it should be high enough so as to not affect any signal, but low enough to hopefully cut out the noise when it's off. Worth a go!
