I agree with Simon with the fact that (especially older) B&O equipment has a certain 'tone' to it. I do have an 80ies beomaster 5000 and a later beomaster 7000 and the difference is audible. The beolink active should always be connected to a beomaster somewhere. I think a beoport is what you're looking for. Gives you control over itunes and off course you can connect beolab speakers.

I hate the concept of 'cloud computing' as there are issues with privacy on all possible levels. We looked into it for our office environment but concluded against it as it was not secure enough. The AE has both digital and analogue exits. .... digital if fine if you pull the sound through DAC unit. (extra cost) The analogue sound from AE is basically not better than a cheap ipod ..if not worse (imo) .. I found the analogue sound very disappointing and not the quality I was looking for.
