OK, but what is the actual difference? Will the circuit diagrams be the same, or are there substantial differences? Mark

My (faulty) Avant has model number 8423, but my service manual is for models 8401-8408. Before I start poking around inside the set, can someone tell me the (internal) difference between the 840x and the 8423? Thank you, Mark

Thank you all for your comments - it's this level of response which makes me feel I have lots of friends out there - I just haven't met them yet! It used to be normal practice to carry CRT monitors face down in a car, as it lowered the CofG, and so reduced the probability of a disaster. The downside was that there is always some debris left

I tried tacking this onto an existing thread, but the formatting went to pot. I'll try again... I'm hoping to pick up a 28" RFT VCR Avant shortly, and plan to carry it face down in the back of a Citroen Xantia. I've seen to comments above about using duvets. My plan is to use sleeping bags plus some armchair cushions. Some questions

To resurrect this thread... I'm hoping to pick up a 28" RFT VCR Avant shortly, and plan to carry it face down in the back of a Citroen Xantia. I've seen to comments above about using duvets. My plan is to use sleeping bags plus some armchair cushions. 1. I assume that the majority of the weight is in the tube. Should the weight be taken on the tube

It's good to know that you have one. I guess I'd better make sure I buy a 50Hz model! Why do B&O not produce the manuals for later Avants? Do they expect all parts to be returned to Struer for repair? Mark

Another TV manual request, I'm afraid, Peter. I've looked through both the Avant and BV3-32 manuals on the site, but none of them contain the circuit diagrams for the printed circuit boards. If I'm to invest in one of these, I'd want to feel that I might be able to repair it! Do you have the schematics? Mark

Thank you all for the responses to date. Unfortunately, I've not seen a BV3 either. How does it compare to the Avant for sound and vision? On connectivity quick look at the "product" section of the website reveals that it has only 2 SCARTS (Avant has 3), but supports two STBs from the built-in controller. Mark

Ah! Now I understand. Looking forward to it! Mark

Thank you, Martin. I'll have to work out how to unwrap the boards from around the CRT! The MX2000 was easy, but the MX3500 seems to have everything crammed into too small a space. I don't understand what you mean by "Maybe next week there is a workshop power supply MX3500/5500", though. Has anyone made a list of electroytic capacitors inside an MX3500
