I "constructed" my own Faraday Cage and yes!, it made the LC2 working again - though not perfectly. I also removed everything in the living room from the mains and even used a line filter but these things did not improve

Hi the resistor is not necessary for normal operation. You can not damage the BL2. However you may want to use a 100 Ohm resistor nonetheless to protect your power supply against a short cut in case of any incorrect connection.
