Probably CAT5 cable at a guess.
The thick grey ones were pre the Mk1 when speakers with displays were the only powerlink speakers. They were simply described as powerlink cables at the time. Not many people will have seen these cables or indeed used them and those that have are slowly loosing interest, moving to iPOD or are dead.
Rumours

Happy to agree with Graham. I still think of the original ones as Mk1 which is my mistake - I have quite a few of those which can be used for anything but are very thick.

Others please correct if wrong but I think the following: Mk1 - thick grey cables - fully wired with a good shield - have the display wires in. Will work with anything. Mk2 - much thinner - easier to run but no display wires and shield not so good. Usually fine for non ICE speakers without displays. Mk3 - thinner than Mk1 and have a triangle mark on

That looks superb - in Keith you have the person who seems to know more about the Beo5/6 than anyone else. Having seen the Beo6 working two way, it really is a super device and promises a lot more.

I have an Avant with Pentas as fronts, 4000s as rears and a Beolab 2. The Pentas will sound better than S75s (had those too) - very warm sound - some will decry them for being a little veiled as they are not as bright as, say, 8000s. I like the sound, Pentas are relatively cheap and they go very loud! You may get a thump when you turn them on with the

I agree - they had no choice - much the same as the introduction of flat screens. Everyone knew that CRTs were considerably better than the first generation LCD screens but no-one would buy them. 3D is now the much hyped must have feature - if B&O did not make it, they would be criticised.

I think it depends on your ears. If I compare my turntables with a good digital source, I think the digital source has more bass extension compared to those decks you mention and also has more dynamic range. However the difference is only really apparent when doing a direct comparison. I listen to both sources because I like the ritual of listening

Apologies, but I will be unable to attend this time. The timing will not fit with Jo and besides, having just enjoyed the hospitality of B&O this year, I feel that another person should enjoy this rather than me. I am sure that the trip will be superb - Jette and Tommy were simply wonderful hosts and Lee cannot be bested as a travelling companion
