Toby, The key advantages of upgrading include:- Several parts no longer available to fix Mark I handsets particular the board because the RF chip is no longer made. The DOT button has a high failure rate The menu is much easier to use The CLI works in all situations including providing details of a caller when you are on the phone. The display is in

Why is the Virgin Media box on ? Is it because you don't have it controlled by the STB controller ?
-
Tim, When you play your DVD on the DVD1 is the Virgin Media box in Standby ? Based on what you have said it sounds like pickup between SCART cables. Are you sure both SCART cables are the screened type ? The fact that you purchased the SCART cables from your B&O dealer does not mean they are teh fully screened version.

Max, This is a difficult problem to logically understand unless your Mark I & Mark II Beo4's have a fault and the same fault. I took a Mark II & a Mark III Beo4 and triggered V.AUX and noted the code sent via the IR of both of them and it was 0001801000130000000158 for both remotes which is correct. Also the code for V.AUX has never changed

Well Pekka, You may have been lucky. You can get tube flashovers which can clear faults like this, lets hope it stays that way.

Craig, To prove if the cable is causing the earth loop, I suggest you leave the SCART cable to the cable modem, but disconnect the cable to the cable company. If the DVD picture is good then you will need a Galvanic Isolator, if you still have the problem then the earth loop is being created somewhere else. At this stage I suggest you just remove the

It sounds like an earth loop problem through the Cable STB. Is your cable STB connected to the cable system via a Galvanic Isolator ? I will answer your next question before you ask it.. What is a Galvanic Isolator ? A Galvanic Isolator allows the cable signal to the STB without the associated ground link to avoid ground loops or other electrical potential
