My personal excuse is that I simply would not enjoy my system as much if it had been repaired / restored by somebody else, as long as I'm able to do it myself. Probably more than half the satisfaction I get from vintage B&O is getting to know how they work and how they have been built. Plus of course, I don't think I've ever paid £1500
