As a jeweller I can tell you that it is very unlikely that the diamond needle is going to wear significantly, especially with the light tracking force of the B&O line, more likely it is the suspension that hardens and that compromises the sound quality. Jeff
I know what you mean, but the styluses do wear -

That sounds like a Powerlink socket. Datalink is a 7 pin cable. You can sometimes use a powerlink cable as a Datalink one though... Cut the central pin. It does depend on what sort of powerlink cable it is though - there are a variety and not all are fully wired.

I can record anything playing through my Mac using CD Spin Doctor which comes with Toast. You can choose to burn a CD or store it as AAC or MP3 etc. Use it for radio, LPs etc - very useful!

I know what you mean, but I have around the house an Avant, and AV9000 and an LX6000 all of which are obsolete and all of which offer extremely good picture quality. If I watyched a lot of TV, I would certainly consider a BV9 which will continue to have a superb picture for many years!

If monet was no object, I would get the BV9. I think the plasma produces more realistic colour and I prefer the picture. Each to their own though. However I am getting the BV10 as the BV9 would be too big and money is an object!!

I have seen no convincing evidence to say that you need anything more than a good quality standard cable. Obviously it is in the manufacturers' interest to pump up the cable debate but the digital nature would seem to make this tricky to justify.

Congratulations - we expect pictures!

I take it it moves to the start of the record? If so, and if it does not move when the arm is angled. the light detector is not working. Could be the bulb or could be the detector circuit. If you are not experienced in electronic repair, do what I would do and send it for service!
