Stuart, Welcome for the forum and many thanks for the pictures. I found that your pictures are better seen at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/41378658@N02/ I'll post on this forum when I do the same repair myself.
Thanks for the input. I took the cable to the store and it worked fine in an iMac there. Now to reinstall Mac OS etc to clean off all of our stuff we had installed and take it back.
You've had unusual bad luck. Please be sure and if at all you can, avoid installing iTunes 8.2, as it has reduced functionality
Has anyone else heard anything?
It might be useful if all adversely impacted contact B&O. Here are my complaint and response received: Response (omitted) 06/08/2009 09.34 AM Dear Mr (omitted), We are pleased to see that you are the owner of BeoPort. In my experience with Beosound 2300 and Beosound 3000, unless the AM antenna is plugged in, there is absolutely no reception. None whatsoever. Hence, you can tune in an AM station, but no sound will be forthcoming. At best, one might some white noise.

Just can't seem to find a justification for getting a Beo4 for the BeoLab 2000 in the bathroom. That seems to be the only sound system around the house that actually gets touched on a consistent
"Oh sorry darling, my alarm clock has some software issues, that's why I woke up 3 hours to late!" ;-)
It is funny you should write that. On our BeoCom 3, at random intervals, I look at the display clock and it shows "AM" during the afternoon or evening. No matter how many times one fixes it

Images look fine now. Thanks.

Update: since I figured I had little to lose, I upgraded to 8.2.1 tonight. Alas!, no joy. Still unable to use the Beo4 to use any playlists other than MUSIC (main) and iTunes DJ. Workaround of selecting any given playlist for iTunes DJ to use as source remains. People under versions earlier than 8.2 are strongly advised to not upgrade to 8.2 nor later
