• Re: Can B&O keep the technological pace?

I agree ... that is the sort of clearly announced strategy and execution of it that I think is needed. By contrast one can look at the agony of Microsoft's Windows family (and what a dysfunctional family that is!) and IBM's OS/2. For any one interested in lessons on how not to develop software and how not to have partnerships take a look at

  • Re: Connections! Connections!

Hi Cliff, firstly, next time you are in Melbourne you are welcome to visit Susan and myself and we can show you our setup. Secondly, I will look at DivX as I suspect it may be more efficient than the packages I have been using. So far I have used Handbrake and MakeMKV . MakeMKV lets me easily capture DVDs that have multiple titles, e.g. movies with
I think B&O has a VERY big challenge here, what do you think?
Overnight I have given this question more thought. The key challenge that B&O management face is to carefully define their "core competencies" and the market and market segments they want to pursue and therefore invest in. In the past

  • Re: BM Link & Snow Leopard: where are we?
a virtual remote, it could easily change our family viewing habits
Yes, LinkPlayer does have a virtual remote but apart from testing I rarely used it; this is because the Beo4 integration is so good particularly once Phillipe tweaked the "PC" command setting. So now I press "PC" on the Beo4
should I refrain from "upgrading" to Snow Leopard
I recommend you take a look at Phillipe's beta test LinkPlayer 0.7 download from this page, click on "download it here " I, and others, have been testing for two months (I got my first copy [0.3] on the 1st of November) I suggest you
If it doesn't, and as with any issue, please send me a direct email as part of the beta testing phase in which you're taking part.
Not sure it is a "bug" as I can not control the "testing" my sons are doing ... they use the Beo4 to control Foxtel, switch to PS3, and so on ... so
they need to do an os-x
an interesting point ... so you are suggesting that under the covers the BM5/BS5 would run Mac OSX with a full screen front end ? why not use a slimmed down Unix variant ? or do you see value in leveraging native Mac OSX applications like iTunes, Safari, Front Row, etc ? or would
I was unaware that iTunes even had a screensaver, what a world! I'm guessing that's just a Mac thing
Yes ... it is a desktop setting ( currently mine if set to "never" because of my use/testing of LinkPlayer )

  • Re: LinkPlayer Feedback Thread

Does it happen when you have put LinkPlayer in Standby mode (see below)? Mine will go to sleep (when I close the MacBook lid) when I head for bed, but sometimes/often it will wake-up later (as reported by younger members of the herd since they tend to use the BV8 well after midnight) - but I am not sure if that is LinkPlayer, or the interaction with
