I just took off the display cover on my Penta 3s and can confirm there is not a light sensor in there.

Pressing Audio on the A9 sends the same signal as pressing Radio on a Beo4, so I guess not, as BS5 doesn't have Radio, only NRADIO. NRADIO is the same signal as Phono. I have an A9, so will give you a definate answer in about twenty years when I can afford BS5. Andy T.

Lol! I thought just the same when I connected my Beosound 2 to my 60s 5000 system! Was dissapointed until I found the volume control on the Beosound. My Kikinoko MP3 didn't have a volume control. Andy T.
