It's a wonderful deck. I doubt that it will be better than a Beocord 6000 but it was definitely one of the best at its time and a good one will produce very nice results indeed. The lubrication in the AC motor can sometimes be a little "harsh" if it stood unused for many years so you could see if the capstan starts spinning before leaving

I would grab a capacitor kit for the CDM module and replace the lot first. It may cure all the problems or at least make further diagnosing easier. Martin

If yours haven't got the bipolar cap, it will be a different version and you will have to let us know the exact version number found on the boards solder-side or, even better, a photo of the board back and/or front sides.
