All my beocoms are mk2 and they can probably do with an upgrade as I have had them a few years.
If your system is working perfectly, you don't need an update. Recommended to solve problems and mandatory if you add "new generation" handhelds eg. a BeoCom 5.
The only
can I assume that the ML will handle the speakers regardless of the BV10
NO, but only audio components of your BV-10 will power up and the LCD panel will still be completely off.
... I should have bought another 6000 ...
When you are adding a BeoCom 6000 Mk2 to an existing BeoCom/BeoLine MK1 setup the update procedure for existing products remains the same.

B&O strongly recommends the following procedure: 1. Update ALL existing products, (handset(s) AND base) to the latest SW version. 2. Connect the oldest product(s) first - eg.
...when the ml to cat7 is plugged directly into the masterlink distribution panel rather than via the patch cables
You're taking about a " Master Link Patch Module for cabinet - 6xRJ45 " (B&O# 8052351) not a " Connection Box 6xML sockerts" (B&O# 3634051) ?

One reason could be: part of the installation might be according to standard 568A and an other part or patch/adapter cables are wired according standard 568B. Can easily be cecked using a simple "Ethernet Cable Tester" for approx 50 EUR (your B&O dealer should also have one)
Huh?... My BS/BM5 combo must be special because it definitely plays gapless (with lossess WMA).
The OP says the music collection has been ripped to FLAC lossless ... I admit matters have improved on the BM5/BS5 as a result of updates. BSd5/BM5 is playing gapless "most of the time", as long it's in
I was thinking of a BS5 as a Christmas present, now that's a deal breaker. I will not buy this as long as it's can't do hapless (what ANY mp3 player of the late 90's can do)
Complainig in a forum is "nice" but won't help much solving the issue, sending a copy of your post via email
