This is quite normal. The output from a MMC cartridge is roughly 60% of what you might expect from a conventional moving magnet cartridge which results in your increase in amplification to achieve the same sound level.

You must connect the MCL2P to the BS7000 or Ouverture with a MK2 or sometimes called a "fully wired" powerlink cable. No other type will work. My test system is a Beomaster 6500 and that works with all the amps, as long as the correct powerlink cable is used.

I am not surprised that your dealer says that the laser is no longer available. You need a complete replacement mechanism. B&O supply an upgrade kit to convert your mechanism to take the more modern VAM1250 which is the same as fitted to the Mk3 Beosound 9000 Make sure that you quote your serial number to ensure that you are provided with the correct

I agree with Olly. It is designed to be left on standby so why do otherwise?

There is an internal fuse on the power supply board which is prone to failure. If the deck is completely dead then it will be that fuse.

Not particularly. As far as I can see, the BS9000 is a Mk1 from 1996. Let's assume that the speakers are the same age and they are marked and only in "fair/good" condition.
