Hard to say. It could cause a bit of wow I suppose, but with the large flywheel it has to accellerate and decellerate, I doubt this is what you hear since you describe it as flutter. The left reel brake ? There's a little short and flat, spring operated metal arm that brakes on the perimeter edge of the reel table. It's very easily bent or even working on the wrong side of the perimeter edge. Martin

Actually, the Beovox S35 is slightly better rated than the X35 and S30(6317). Even the smaller Beovox S30 (6301) sounds more balanced than the larger S30 (6317). Martin

I always considered them fairly reliable but I've seen a couple of dead TCA4500's recently. Why not just replace the chip and see if that cures the poor thing ? I never had an AM version of the Beomaster 2000 on the bench, so I'm afraid I cannot give much advice regarding the AM issue. Martin
