  • Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?

'High and Dry' by Radiohead. Still can't believe I was stupid enough to sell my ticket to see them on the OK Computer tour when I was a Sixth Former, so I had some beer money to tide me over at the end of the month before I got paid!

  • Re: Stuck mute one one channel in Beomaster 6500?

soundproof: Yes. It's simple to work around not having MUTE, but also quite nice to be able to quickly dampen the sound when desired. I'll give it a look. I had a dead mute channel on my Beomaster 5000 when I bought it. Some rapid flicking of the mute circuit on and off cured it, and it's been fine ever since. Have you tried doing this?

  • Re: OT - Jacob Jensen E76 Telephone

TEL: Hello John Have a look at http://www.absolutform.co.uk/ who have a couple of phones, or http://www.jacobjensen.com/#/int/contact/distributors/europe/great_britain/ Thanks Tel - I can't see the E76 though. It's a design from the 70s (though still made today, according to the JJ website), so perhaps this explains why it's not there??

  • OT - Jacob Jensen E76 Telephone

Way off topic this, but just come across the E76 telephone on Jacob Jensen's homepage. I've never seen one of these before, and a quick scan of eBay doesn't come up with any. Does anyone know if these were made for the UK market?

  • Re: Repair and restoration of a JET Present 607

Just thought I'd tie this thread up for the time being. Martin kindly agreed to sell the JET to me, and I have it sat at home now - the first valve radio in my small collection. I've got to pay tribute to Martin's superb work on this set, as it looks practically new, and of course functions absolutely faultlessly. I listen to Radio 5 a lot

  • Re: Smiley Suggestions?

j0hnbarker: Please add the *** smiley as it's my favourite. For some reason the forum blocked out the title of the smiley! Funnily enough, its title is like a jumbled up swear word. Anyway, it's the one continually reeling off expletives with a red face.

  • Re: The essentials!

I didn't have to think hard here: Beomaster 8000 - the most powerful receiver made by B&O, and still very desirable on the second hand market today. It's great to watch the uninitiated fiddle about with the volume and get a kick out of seeing the LED volume display go up and down as quickly/slowly as you turn the wheel. The technology seems

Medogsfat: j0hnbarker: 'Unhappy Birthday' from The Smith's 'Strangeways Here We Come' - great track and album! I agree! I'm off to dig out my copy on the strength of this, In the meantime I'll whack on Morrissey's "Your Arsenal" on virgin vinyl - see if I can find it before side 1 finishes. I just love the track
