'High and Dry' by Radiohead. Still can't believe I was stupid enough to sell my ticket to see them on the OK Computer tour when I was a Sixth Former, so I had some beer money to tide me over at the end of the month before I got paid!

soundproof: Yes. It's simple to work around not having MUTE, but also quite nice to be able to quickly dampen the sound when desired. I'll give it a look. I had a dead mute channel on my Beomaster 5000 when I bought it. Some rapid flicking of the mute circuit on and off cured it, and it's been fine ever since. Have you tried doing this?

TEL: Hello John Have a look at http://www.absolutform.co.uk/ who have a couple of phones, or http://www.jacobjensen.com/#/int/contact/distributors/europe/great_britain/ Thanks Tel - I can't see the E76 though. It's a design from the 70s (though still made today, according to the JJ website), so perhaps this explains why it's not there??

j0hnbarker: Please add the *** smiley as it's my favourite. For some reason the forum blocked out the title of the smiley! Funnily enough, its title is like a jumbled up swear word. Anyway, it's the one continually reeling off expletives with a red face.

I didn't have to think hard here: Beomaster 8000 - the most powerful receiver made by B&O, and still very desirable on the second hand market today. It's great to watch the uninitiated fiddle about with the volume and get a kick out of seeing the LED volume display go up and down as quickly/slowly as you turn the wheel. The technology seems

Medogsfat: j0hnbarker: 'Unhappy Birthday' from The Smith's 'Strangeways Here We Come' - great track and album! I agree! I'm off to dig out my copy on the strength of this, In the meantime I'll whack on Morrissey's "Your Arsenal" on virgin vinyl - see if I can find it before side 1 finishes. I just love the track
