Unfortunately you cannot customise the "Record" button on a Beo4, perhaps you may wish to invest in a Beo5.

Having reviewed the Service manual it is clear that only the transmit and receive signals are wired on the RS232 and other signals such as dataset ready are not wired which means that any polling or data update will NOT occur by justing plugging the cable back in. Actual data must be sent to the Beovision 4 to change its mode, as the cable was unpluged

It is true that on some exchanges even in the UK CLI (Caller Line Identification) does not always work particularly with ADSL (Broadband) on the same line. However generally in France it does work.

I can confirm that the Beotalk 1200 will work in France..

A warm welcome to Beoworld.. Beoport is connected between Masterlink and your PC and ONLY transmits and receives audio and control signals, not video. Adding a TV tuner to your laptop will NOT allow you to see your stored PC video on your AVANT unless the TV tuner you purchase can play MP3 files AND provide a composite video out signal.

Based on what you have said, I would say that the problem is going to be one of the following:- The de-gaussing is not working every time you switch the AVANT on. When you switch the AVANT on do you hear a hiss for a split second ? if you don't then the de-gaussing is the most likely cause. If this is the problem it is generally easy and cheap to

Perhaps you can describe the shaded area in a little more detail:- Is it shaded a particular colour ? Is the picture itself otherwise perfect, in other words is the picture de-formed in any way ? Is the shading right in the corner itself ?
