Yes, Macs are supposed to be able to do most of the things you want without needing a peek under the hood -- but it all depends upon your requirements and if you wish, you can go into the Mac and perform a lot of serious computer work -- the User Interface is really just a convenient skin stretched across that power tool underneath. Flappo The Grate: i'd be very careful with all this , there's no telling if apple will eventually tie the boot up dvd to a region and then you're really stuffed since you can get a dvd player with Multi-region for c.£50 nowadays i'd play safe and get one of those , your mac is far too precious to be messed about with !! :) Agreed

So if I purchased a Mac Mini and attached it to my Pionner HD Plasma which is in the family room with a HDMI cable I could use the i Touch as a mouse to access the Mac Mini? Beolab: Hm, strange I have a very sensitive hearing for one, but it seems to be odd if B&o do a upgrade and just 1 of 10 peoples can hear the difference.. It could be I was deaf on the day, but I have heard them side-by-side in a store -- and I did notice the better bass at low levels, but didn't really note a "marked improvement" at high volume levels. Hey! Maybe my hifi listening powers are deficient.

Beolab: Puncher: My understanding of the change to the 8000's is that there was a slight change to the crossovers (~2003) to improve reliability (and alledgedly improve the bass although most here that have heard both can not tell the difference between the two). Maybe they have bad HiFi hearing? Because it´s easy to notice the difference

I'm quite Mac mad, so I could have set this up with another computer, but the Mini really made sense. The newer ones are fast, have Infrared, Bluetooth, WiFi and Ethernet and can run all applications intended for Mac OSX. And they're inexpensive compared to a computer with a screen.
