When something's too good to be true! Yes, I managed to get one-way control of a BV8 linked to a Beomaster 6500 that I have two-way control of. (Option 2 and Option 4, respectively). But today I noticed that the BV8 is feeding the Beomaster with an additional IR pulse - turning 1 into 11 and one channel presses into two-channel jumps. That wasn't

kawo: Quick update from B&O suport: Current version does not support 1080/24p, no idea if get fixed with a software update. HDMI 1.3 is not needed for 24p, 1.3 adds an extended color mode and the new HD audio codecs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-Definition_Multimedia_Interface#HDMI_1.3) Karsten You're correct KAWO, HDMI is not related to

I have some LC2s that I use, though I've noticed that I get unreliable performance in the room I have the plasma in, which I think was a recognized problem with the sensors. Worth looking for in your local auction/sales listings. I'm using them in the den - very nice to be able to control the lights with the one remote.

Peter: As far as Format is concerned, I suppose the likelihood is that Format is a new code invented after the Beolink 5000 - unless we actually have a breakdown of the IR codes and it shows it is using a redundant old code, which would seem unlikely. Yes, I'm certain you're right. Back when Beolink 5000 was launched 4:3 was the default format

Nice news. I spent some time this weekend fiddling with the Beolink 5000 and the BV8/Beosystem 6500. I've set the Beolink 5000 for One-Way Video and Two-Way Audio. Then I set the Beomaster 6500 on Option 4 instead of 0. (BV8 option 2). This has made it possible to control the BV8 in One-Way. What's nice is that I now have two-way control of

jc: I don't think downloading music files wil make physical musiccarriers like CD/SACD obsolete, at least i like the "real" thing to hold in your hand, reading the book/text/lyrics that goes with it, and putting it into the player, a moment where the physical experience of the unique mechanical design that makes B&O products so special

Nice diagram! (B&W must be sponsoring ...)

As Peter points out above, you can't really compare Beo5 and the iPod Touch -- the latter requires you to have a computer running. Beo5 is a stand-alone, fully BeoLink compatible B&O remote that enhances the B&O experience when properly configured. Very likely it's also too complicated to set up at present - let's hope B&O releases

B&O "deselected" SACD, and chose to not include it as an option in their audio players. The format has had a hard time catching on (came out at the same time as DVD-Audio and while most people were turning to low resolution mp3 as "more than enough" for their needs.) I doubt that B&O will go to a disc-based SACD format now

Here's my analogy: I can buy the same ingredients at the market as can a master chéf, but the likelihood that I can achieve the same result with them is slim. B&O's challenge is that in the digital age it's become a lot easier for many to edge in on their "master chéf" territory, and therefore also harder to be
