  • Re: re-issues of old products

I have nothing against the flat panel speakers, and they obviously command a good premium either Beovox or Beolab, but my understanding was that the flat panel speakers sold quite poorly 15 years ago when they were a current line. If that's the case, did the same people who hanker after them now buy them when they came out? I have it easy as I have

Beolab 8000 system with a Beogram CD8000 as a new edition!

Alex: I don't like the christmas decoration on the top either, absolutely hideous. The 40th anniversary B&Ws are pretty disgusting too actually. Looks like it's made from a section of drainpipe. Mind you, the B&W Nautiluss speakers aren't that easy on the eye either. Where do they get their inspiration from? 1960s vintage electric

  • Re: Adaptors for 'old;' B&O 2 pin speaker connections

You should be alright if you're using 2 pin DIN connectors at present. As far as I'm aware, the 3500/4500 and 5000/5500/6500/7000 all have two pin DIN sockets in the same way your 7007 has.

soundproof: I heard the QUAD 2905s the other day. Spot on sound. An acquaintance has Martin Logan Vantage speakers as the main speakers in his home movie setup. He's riveted by their sound. I prefer the BL5s over his. The Martin Logan top end speakers have ICEpower driven bass: The DM70s are forebears to these. BTW - the veneer ones in the photos

I've got to admit that this thread introduced me to these speakers, and though they're obviously legendary, I can't help thinking the wood veneer finished ones look like some horrid 1960s electric fire. The white and black ones do look much nicer though - I suppose they've got that retro cachet the wooden finished ones lack. Are these

  • Re: Most played format? Lp, Cassete, Video, DVD, mp3, radio, HD or DAT?

1: CD 2: Old fashioned analogue radio 3: Vinyl (would like to listen to more, but my MMC 20EN is on its way out, and I can't abide the Soundsmith black cartridge bodies) 4: Occasional cassette (great charity shop bargains)

  • Re: BeoGram, SO many choices!

I'd go with Peter's suggestion and get a BG 6000 quad, as you'll have the best of both worlds in terms of the looks and exceptional build quality of the 4000 series decks, and the fact that it has a built in RIAA amp. I had a Bg 5005 for a year or so until I got a Bg 4002, and was always well pleased with the looks and build on the 5005

  • Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?

Puncher: j0hnbarker: You're only in Morley aren't you? John Do I take it from this that Morley is, in some way, inferior to Pudsey??? Oh.... No! By 'only' I meant the fact that it's only 6 or 7 miles away from Pudsey. Apart from the fact that Morley doesn't have a charitable mascot named in its honour, I can confirm that it is
