I'd say go for it. You can set up the MacMini to access the media directly from your iMac if you wish, or the other way round. All that's required is that both machines are running a user account with exactly the same name...

As Peter has said, it's not an issue with the hardware, but a software issue in the TV. Wait a bit, and if the BeoSystem 3 is anything to go by, the BeoVision 7-40 should be stunning even with SD.
