  • Re: Mac Mini.Tiger or Leopard?

I have Leopard in all of my Macs now, and it's working very nicely.

  • Re: Cables - for the last time?

Peter: Splendid result for we cable sceptics. And well done to him for allowing this to happen. Yes, I'm very impressed that he put his reputation on the line in this manner. He writes he will have to spend time thinking about the result, and that he had taken the challenge too lightly - that he should have spent more time listening to the Mónster

  • Re: HD tv Channel in Australia on BV 7

To avoid confusion, there are no regular 1080p broadcasts anywhere in the world, so don't worry if you don't have the MKIII version. Broadcasts are 720p or 1080i. As mentioned you'll need a version of your provider's decoder that outputs an HD signal. I'm waiting for mine to get their tests finished ...

  • Cables - for the last time?

Let's say your listening room is such that members of avsforum.com consider it one of the world's best. Let's say your budget is such that you can buy the components generally acknowledged to be the ultimate - and if you're not satisfied, you can have them custom modified to your satisfaction. Let's say you're pretty much relentless

  • Re: Soundproof's Guide for using iPhone or iPod Touch as a remote!

Go with Peter's suggestion about using your existing cable from Airport Express to BS9000 while getting everything working. That cable will fit in the mini. Once you have everything set up, you can consider whether you need a DAC or not. As Peter writes it also depends a lot upon your source material, and the rate/format that's been sampled

Yes, that would work. You're then using the digital-to-analog-converter (DAC) in your mini, but you'll find that for most practical purposes this will do. If you plan on using the mini to feed a dedicated listening setup with your main speakers, then I would recommend using a DAC between the mini and your BS9000. That will let you pipe the optical

As long as you connect the output from your Mini to your Audiomaster as a source (For instance Tape 2/AUX or similar) then you will get that music from the link room or main room, when you select the source with your Beo4. You then control music playback with your Touch, which will send commands to your Mini over Wi-Fi. You shouldn't need a separate

9 LEE: What shocked me is the size of the thing! You could live in it.. The one in Struer is a replica apparently - is this true? Lee That's whatI was told when I visited. There were very few made, and even fewer that have survived. I believe the one that went on auction was red? Have only seen a photo, but seem to remember that colour.

OK - Christian is at the top of his form today. He needs sharper challenges (though he did get an assist!)

You're on the right track, but there's a fun back story. B&O was strongly criticized by several industrial designers, including Poul Henningsen (creator of PH lamps). He claimed that the company was making hypertraditional wooden cabinets without an eye to the age it was in. The founders took this to heart, and gave their designers a remit
