There's not a lot wrong with the Beolink Passive as an amplifier in this application. He only wants to run some ceiling speakers!

You have two options. Either connect them together with a fully wired Mk2 powerlink cable, in which case you will not need the IR eye and the Beo4 will work directly on the 9000 or Connect them together with a Masterlink cable, plug an IR eye into the passive and the Beo4 will work on the eye but not the 9000.

Pull the front upper and lower frets off and you will soon see if they are rotten. Either completely disintegrated or just sticky. Of the 10 or 12 pairs that Beo4life have had recently they have all had foam rot. I have replaced some with new but it is hardly financially worthwhile, others have either gone in the skip or I have given them to the refoaming

Look at eBay for a week or two and that will give a general idea of what prices are being achieved by ordinary members of the public selling their unwanted B&O kit. Prices have dropped lately so I would be surprised if you achieved much more than £300 for the 2300 alone or £575 with 2500 speakers. Do not be mislead by the higher prices

BEOKNOW: Just double checked the cost price...can't tell you it, but if a dealer (and I'm guessing Cambridge) will sell you one for £84.00 I'll be amazed... some unusually large price increases recently (Avant 32" chassis for one), and of course some reductions...! BEOKNOW: £80.00??? That's less than cost price! My dealer quoted me £84 about 3 months ago NOT including a top or a cone. Now, a top is around £20 and the last time I bought a cone I'm sure it was a lot less than £100

A new case for BL8000 is around £80 but you then have to transfer all the bits! Not difficult but will take you an hour or two. First you have to find a dealer who will sell you the cases! All in all I'd live with the scratches, they won't show unless you go looking 'round the back.
