I agree with Peter - well worth fixing. As for the turntable, did you have a record on the deck when you tested it? There is an inbuilt safety feature which will shut it down if there is no record on the deck. Chris.

justw: When the counterweight on my Beogram 3000 got scuffed up like that, though notably a narrower spot. I was able to coneal it quite a bit by carefully "brushing up" the spot with various weights of steel wool. I did the same with the side panel on a BM5500 and the results were surprisingly good. Not perfect but definately near enough

You should be able to use the aux input for this though. How are you selecting aux? The correct way is to press "shift" then "radio". There are some strange combinations to get the correct setting, on my BM7000 I press "shift" > "radio" > "1" when I want to use my TV through it. If that doesn't

rabble: Well now I have another problem, I've connect to tape 2, but I don't know how to select tape 2 with the beolink 1000. To select tape 2 press "shift" then "tape" Chris.

Steelsky: Well, I guess I just have to service it, how much do we talk costwise? That all depends on what the problem is and where you take it. To be honest it could be cheaper to buy another turntable off ebay. Chris.

Common fault with these motors I'm afraid. The only option is to look for a scrap tuntable with the same motor as there are no replacement ones out there that I know of. Suitable donors are BG1800 to 5000 series (from the 1980's), RX, TX, all the later tangential tracking models (3000 to 9500) and the beocenter 2200. You may need to swap the

I've refoamed lots of these and they are quite tricky (but not the hardest in the world). The main problem is centering the cones correctly or you end up with rubbing coils which sound horrible and will ruin the drivers completely. Chris.

No problem, Maplins also sell other adaptors to allow connection of other equipment such as a CD player to your Beocenter. Any advice you need please feel free too ask. Chris.
