I agree - clearly doing something wrong! They sound better straight through the system though yours sounds brighter. Almost as if there is a high filter in. Giving up for the moment!!
-
Have redone them! Didn't re-do 8 or 9 as I had not done anything to these in particular. Also added one more - I have only recorded the first 90 seconds of each as it makes it easier to both load and unload. Happy to put in a sample from you as well if you wish - is that what you mean?
-
Had another go - recorded the first 90 seconds of each cartridge - done at 44,1kHz to make it even. Left 8 and 9 alone - changed 5 to a different cartridge. Will take a little time to reload!
-
Momentary pause whilst I put the original recordings on! I had equalised them down so they all had the same volume and succeeded in making them all sound rubbish!!
-
I think I have over equalised them to try to get them all to be the same volume! I'll have another go! This will mean a delay though!!
-
Very nice example - that really is quite a find - especially if it all works as well. I think they do best if they are used regularly.
-
I will of course reveal which cartridges are which at the end of the poll!
-
We have recorded 9 different versions of Take Five onto aiff files which can be downloaded here . The password is eleanor. Please listen and decide which you like the best. There are cartridges from both Soundsmith, retipped ones from Axel and a couple of originals. [Poll]

Right! For what it is worth, I have downloaded 9 aiff files to my iDisk. If anyone would like to download them they are here and the password is eleanor. I expect anyone who does download them to say which they think is the best - I will do a poll on this. Clearly some of the detail mwill be lost in the transfer to digital. The system used was a Beogram

I wonder if you arefortunate and you have merely blown a fuse. There are a couple of fuses after the power supply on the circuit diagram - I attach a snippet from the service manual!
