  • Re: BeoVision 7-40 Mark III - Customer Review

The search function here on BW is quite nice. Try entering: service menu Since it's not recommended to make changes in that, most people are reluctant to state the service menu access code out in the open. But it's there.

Here's a reviewer touching upon the same topic, he also went into the service menu. Also, on some DVDs, we could perceive a slight bit of edge ringing, which we attributed to a smidge of over sharpening. We found the Sharpen control in the Service Menu. When we dropped it a couple of ticks, we were happy. Actually, that is an understatement, we

355f: Rather interestingly, I was involved with a company that makes the sky HD box and the SD tuner part of that product was downspecified in comparison with the normal sky box. Some would say that was a cynical attempt by sky to bring about the illusion of reduced bit rate HD being better than (previously good)SD- It would be quite a development if

The Beonic Man: They don't say, "Oh, another iPod/iPhone" they say, "WOW! That is so cool Simon, I have never seen anything like it in my life! What is it? Play something!" That is what I want, that is what I have, that is why I love B&O, that is why I buy only B&O. It has always been about styling for me and nobody does

  • Re: Unusual combinations...

For fun I've run my BL5s from my iPod. Works nicely, though you have to have the BL5s off when connecting if you want to try it. (Impedance blasts while connecting can destroy your tweeters if you don't.) And don't disconnect while playing. The chap in London story I heard had a man coming to a B&O dealer, and asking whether the BL5s

The Beonic Man: The iPhone is very impressive, of that there is no doubt. However, I would never buy it on the basis that its a mass market, just as the iPod was and I like to be unique, which is why I buy B&O. Even if B&O don't have a product to compete with an iPhone I still choose to have the exclusivity. That is a reflection of my personality

Bingo: Well, If I read what Wallace says, he went to the mediamarkt and saw that some other brands did not have that problems. So then it is not the case of with every LCD panel. Yes, I understood that. But I think we can also safely assume that the source material at Mediamarkt was optimized for the screens on display, where several of his comments

I agree with 355f here. Flat screen fashion got way ahead of the technology, and people scrapped wonderful CRT-screens in order to follow the trend. (My parents are still hanging on to their CRT, but their friends are constantly nagging them to "switch to flat"). LCD has motion artifacts that are very difficult to get rid of, and that you'll

  • Re: BeoLab 5 and a "phantom centre" channel

I'd think a BL9 would fill in nicely in the gap between BL3/7.4 and BL5 -- but do try your other processor with Centre OFF and tell us what you think of your BL5s creating a phantom centre channel.
