Alex: If B&O had wanted it to be a media server, they would give it full-on video capabilities It's not what B&O want Alex, it's what we want as consumers. I think you find we drive market demand and if the manufacturer can't meet the functionality for this demand, we won't buy their products. The Beosound 5 should be a media

Alex: I would vote number 1, but spending £3700 on a hifi seems a little excessive as a.... As a consumer Alex. Wait until you start earning. £3700 is a lot for anyone earning even £50,000 a year, particularly for a digital media player. It's hardly a 'hifi'.

timhanna: What do you guys think, which is the ultimate solution? I just want it for Music (priority) and photos. I wouldn't use the PS3 as a media center. I tried this and it just doesn't seem to work properly. Movies aren't compatible with the supplied codecs and need to be converted. Some MP3s would play and others were 'incompatible'

No crash-to-off issues here either, so far. Not had time to test the link-room issue yet.

Tom: moxxey: PhilLondon: I had not realised the latest 32 version had the BS3 chassis. It doesn't, you are right. Only the BV7-40 has the BS3 chassis, the 32"-version doesn't. Bizarre. That's what I've just said. Why said it again?

kokomo: Seems to me though to be a very good reason not to spend many many thousands of pounds/dollars/euros etc on a B&O TV ! I think that's somewhat unfair. Unless you're some kind of TV perfectionist, the latest BV7-40 MKIII is a fantastic TV, so is the BV9 and even the old BV5-HD is decent. One advantage of B&O TVs is that you can

Alex: And mk3. Between the mk1 and mk2, there were quite vast improvements in DVD playback quality and responsiveness. The panel also changed each time I believe. Not sure of the other differences! Yes, the panel definitely changed. I had a MK1 and it had a 'gloomy' image (looked dark, overcast, lacked brightness). Was lent a MKII or MKIII for

joeyboygolf: It would be interesting to read a reply from B&O marketing or development departments!! They are busy drumming up 'exciting' ways of getting us customers to pre-order the BS5 at full cost. I still don't see why B&O don't do their existing customers justice by enabling them to pre-order an receive a small discount

Alex: Not sure exactly what the issue is here, but as a quick-fix/workaround to get it working in the meantime, I would connect the Sky HD box via Component if your box has it. The latest Sky HD boxes don't and I can't remember off the top of my head how old your box is! It doesn't have component. It's a new Sky HD box as the other one
