It is definitely silk screened (or similar). You can feel a ridge. Perhaps some old fashioned Chartpak tape would work? Below is a pic (cell phone) of my 3000 BALANCE slide... mine appear to be more orange than red... could also have faded. I am going to do some experimenting this evening as mine has a slight yellowness to it as well. Let you know!

What part are you glueing? The support tabs? I don't think a superglue (cyanoacrylate) adhesive is the answer. I would look for a 2-part epoxy that includes plastics as viable bonding materials.

The thread is starting to pick up! I retreated a bit from my idea of the switch, here is a first rev using just cables... Probably won't work! Using BC9500, SPK1 that mutes when a headphone jack is inserted, Sounds Heavenly attenuated cables (2 pin DIN -> LINE/RCA), and few other off-the-shelf and/or custom made by Sounds Heavenly... all BL 8000's
