Alex: What do you mean issues? There aren't really any 'issues' with the BeoSound 4. No product will ever have 100% reliability rate, there will always be a few units produced with issues. As far as I'm aware, the BeoSound 4 doesn't have a 'high' failure rate. I always tend to think o them as being quite robust and reliable

We chose to buy a bs4 with the plan to keep it for many years, but with the issues bs4 has, i'm worried it won't last. Luckily after a few exchanges under warranty our current unit hasn't faltered. Why are there so many issues with this model?

It is becoming clear that apple is putting the nails into microsoft's coffin. Microsoft is also nailing it's own coffin, by being stubborn and not keeping up with the trends. I remember when apple was a joke compared to microsoft... Blue ray is obviously the greater format for the future.

WOW great archive, also helped me resolve my ouverture dilemma, mine is excactly the same as 3 different ones (in regards to the gap between the doors.
-
Ah i thought so, well i should just stick to using the BS2 through AUX (as soon as i get the charger fixed).

Thank you all for the correspondence i will consider all of the above, unfortunately i'm plagued with extreme fussiness, so the gap really gets to me. Goldfrog88, i tried what you said but i don't see how this procedure could work. Seems impossible to me, The doors not closing is internal and the only way to fix it is to tighten those clamps
-
It's a very minor gap difference, surely it can just be tightened and lubricated... i would never spend that much to fix it, i paid 900 aus for it!

Just got a second hand 1996 ouverture from ebay (the ad quoted technically and optically perfect). It's really nice, but oh so different to a Beosound 4! and wanted to check about the doors, and how there is a gap between them when they are closed, mine has a 2 mm gap when they close but has practically no gap if i physically push them shut from

That does really sound like a bargain, i'm jealous!

PentaIII: Have you thought about Beoport? I bought one for the same purpose of connecting BL2500's up and it worked well...although the box is hideous and the cable mess annoyed me but you could still use the Beo4. I have mine now sitting in a cupboard collecting dust. I'll send you a PM
