Because the BV1 in standard form can only be configured as a master. You need the LS version if you want to configure as a slave. This is the reason for the BV1 LS (link slave) version. Take a look at the product page in the main site.

I believe that the PL socket is an output which will run active speakers. I have never used it so someone needs to confirm this.
