I get a lot of use out of mine despite having BeoLink at home. There's a lot to be said for the convenience of dropping an iPod into a dock and not interacting with a larger system. I listen to lots of books on MP3 while I drive and often I'll be at a juicy part and have to dock the iPod inside while I change and get dinner ready. I'd say

That would be great if it did, but usually they crow about that stuff internally so I kind of doubt it.

I wonder what it was like when color was introduced to televisions. I'm sure it seemed like a novelty and, though we saw real life in color, it must have been a difficult component to manage in the composition of a movie. Of course some 50 years later things just are in color and unless it's used very deliberately it seldom communicates anything

Mighty Quinn, You're right. The AppleTV has universal appeal, but the isn't enough on it to make it a huge success. It's a great supplement to regular tv, but the Roku actually has more content. Roku has hulu plus and amazon on demand. It's also retro compatible with TVs all the way back to tubes. When Steve can find a way to pack more

Considering the relative dud that the AppleTV has been, I can't see Apple building a dedicated set and being able to push enough into the field to capture enough revenue from apps, rentals, etc. The overhead associated with designing, tooling, building, shipping, stocking, selling, and servicing TVs versus just giving their software to multiple

Here's who should be really worried about Apple making a television: cable & satellite providers. Apple wants the revenue streams associated with content distribution. Gillette will never make the highest end razor, just the one that moves the most cartridges.

[quote user="Peter "] I have not closed this thread because there are more comments and because I think it raises a number of thoughts. I think an owner can do whatsoever he likes to a product he has bought. I confess to being the owner of the Beogram 4001 which is a fake - it is a Beogram 6000 which had been left in a damp cellar and was

What about the idea of having a custom frame made for you by a local metal shop? I work with metal shops all the time on large projects when they do custom details in clients' homes. They're always going on about how they can make a cooler frame than the B&O ones. Why not see if such a person is working where you live and commission a truly

[quote user="folkdeejay"] Trip, I just don't see that this deserves such vitriol. If we accept the op at his word ( ie, it is for personal use at home ) the how is it different to several other mods I have read about on here - such as: * Putting flat panels onto AVANT chasis - picture threads have been posted here more tha once, and loads
