• Re: BeoSound 5 now support Free Lossless Audio Codec (FLAC)
With UPnP direction of B&o, it wouldn't surprise me that Beoplayer and Beoport sw 5.04 will be the last version.
I was kind of thinking the same thing...

  • Re: smart tv apps for the BeoMaster 5
Otherwise, the BeoMaster 5 is looking like a very overpriced, useless box.
Overpriced, maybe... Useless, not to me. It has a very good DAC (to my ears), and, unlike the Encore, a ML interface and storage all in one box. I'm also a bit wary of the Encore's ability to read libraries from existing computers

  • Re: BeoSound 5 now support Free Lossless Audio Codec (FLAC)
Perhaps it's about time Apple added native Flac support, at least in iTunes.
Oh yeah, that's really going to happen. Apple loosen its grip? I wouldn't hold my breath...

  • Re: BeoSound 5 now support Free Lossless Audio Codec (FLAC)
Does anyone know if the Flac codec will also be implemented in BeoPort Software?
BeoPort doesn't implement *any* codecs... it just plays the audio presented to its (analog) audio input. Perhaps you mean BeoPlayer? In which case, I don't know... I wish it would... there's probably ways of making it

  • Re: Optioning Help with BeoSound 5

I recently added a BV8 to my collection, and experience the same thing (the BS5 lives with a BS9000 in one room, while the BV8 is in another room). However, prior to adding the BV8, when I turned on the BS5 via the BS5, only the BS5 turned on, and this was considered "normal" (according to the folks on the BS5 forum). To listen today, I must

  • Re: Updated 4 jan 2011
I just used the Windows Explorer or Finder (Mac), I can't remember which one, to copy a Flac file to the BM5. The file tag was read and the content was played by the BS5 without any problems
I tried connecting using Finder, but do not know what "user id" to use when connecting. Do you know what

  • Re: Updated 4 jan 2011

Has anybody been able to transfer a FLAC file to their BS5/BM5 via BeoConnect (v1.21.00 - which I downloaded tonight)? I have had some .aiff files that I used XLD to convert to .flac When I drop them into BeoConnect, it says "<filename>" in an invalid file type". I tried both .flac and .flc as extensions. Stan

  • Re: Should B&O get out of the digital media market and concentrate on what they do best?
With that said, Trips assesment sounds right: I expect a good GUI for my stand-alone player. It has to be better than using a computer. The Bryston just doesn't cut it. Not even for someone like me who is very, very reluctant to use my computer as a means of pleasure listening.
Which is exactly why I

  • Re: Connecting my Iphone to a Beosound 3

I've used one of those FM transmitter things so my kids could play their ipods through a BS3. In the US, it's called an iTrip, and it plugs into the wide slot on the iPod, and is powered by the iPod. I recall there being some discussion about different laws around the world with respect to home FM transmitters. This works OK as long as there's

But the BeoSound 5 is pretty damn good as it sits, and the Encore answers, almost to the bullet point, the list of concerns and criticisms about the BeoSound 5.
Including the price, which is a little high for what it offers lets face it.
Not so fast... exhibit A: The
