The link system always has used the left and right audio outputs of any source for sound distribution. It has nothing to due with whether the source has HDMI, SPIF or optical outputs. It is part of the reason B&O always wants all cables connected to any source. Even with HDMI or component video you still need to connect the composite video signal

It will be interesting to see if these sell. In todays market a 42" 480P TV is about as desirable as a 40" CRT. Even if these are second generation versions they are only 720p sets. Does this mean the Beomaster is the Beomedia with a display and the Beosound is just the display? Could you perhaps use the Beosound 5 with a Beoport connected to your PC or Mac while the Beomaster would eliminate the need for a separate computer
