• Re: Beocenter 7700 switching off??

I had the same problem with mine, and it was caused by bad bias-trimpots. I had them replaced (and properly adjusted), and since then the unit works fine.

  • Re: Beocord 9000 vs. CD..........

I agree with Peter, TDK SA is a good choice. Metal tapes are a bit over-hyped, in many cases you actually get better results with a type II tape uch as the SA. Before buying _new_ tapes, google - I've heard that some of the tapes available today are of much worse quality than their older counterparts, but i don'r remember any details at the

  • Re: Beocord 9000 vs. CD..........

Ah, ok! On the other hand, real-time monitoring is not the only reason (and not even the main one, iirc)to have separate rec and pb heads - by using two heads you can optimise the gap in both heads. A combined re/pb head (as in a two head deck) is always a compromise, as the ideal rec head has a wider gap than the ideal pb head. ...but of course: that
The heads on a 9000 are smaller than the 8004 simply to fit in the third head which is only used for the CCC
Is this really true? So the 9000 isn't a true three head design with separate recording and playback heads, then?

  • Re: Beosystem 6500 displays

Peter: yes, those are stunning products! As I wrote: "with some exceptions". :-) I'm not that keen on many of the other 70s products though.

  • Re: Beosystem 6500 displays

I agree with Peter and Graham. I still love my beosystem 7000, but not for its sonic merits - my older 6000 and 8000 systems sounds much better and are better built, but they lack the "modern" features of the 7000. This is not a B&O problem in general, it's the same with Sony (for example) and many other manufacturers. Sony's 70s
Is the Beosystem 4500 considered lower range?
Compared to the 6500, yes.

  • Re: New Mac Mini not compatible with Avant

Yes, it seems like the new graphic cards in these models (Mac mini and Macbook) can't deliver an S-video signal :-( It was big disappointment for me also, I really like that the new mini has fw800 - my plans is to buy a mini to use both as a media center and as a fileserver, so s-video AND fw800 would have been really great for me. On the other

  • Re: Q: How to check usage details on mx4000/6000/7000 s/w 1.1?

But 33x are always two-way, right? (I guess this means that they run 1.x s/w)

Ah, ok! So there is v2.x software for these models? And being 33xx, they still will be two-way, right? Anyway, thanks for your answers - now I know I was looking for something that doesn't exist! :-)
