I had the same problem with mine, and it was caused by bad bias-trimpots. I had them replaced (and properly adjusted), and since then the unit works fine.

I still love my beosystem 7000, but not for its sonic merits - my older 6000 and 8000 systems sounds much better and are better built, but they lack the "modern" features of the 7000.
