As long as you use a fully wired PL cable the MCL2P or similar amp boxes (BL Passive or ML/MCL converter) should work in any PL socket. Certainly the 2300, 2500, 3000, 3200 and Ouverture will all work. It is a standard method of using Passive speakers in an Active only situation.

I don't see why it shouldn't work for rear surround but that wasn't the question!!!!!!
