Do you mean home cinema i.e. surround sound or just duplicating the RL140 channels in the RL60 rears? The 5000 won't do surround.

I would get them all done at the same time. Not to dishearten you too much but while they're open it may well be worth replacing the electrolytic capacitors in the crossover networks, if they are still the original parts, as these can deteriorate with age too (there won't necessarily be any visible signs of deterioration for you to see). Funnily

Yup - they've removed the plates to stop them thudding about, they should be exactly like the RL45's (it's the same part in both speakers). The drivers themselves (in the RL60's) aren't susceptible to rot and so will be fine - the ABR definitely needs attention!
-
For the RL60's it's not the actual drivers you need to look at but the ABR (the big rectangular thing at the bottom). If the foam surround has rotted it will likely be quite visible. For pictures see the recent RL45 thread in the "workshop" forum. (It is the drivers in the RL140's, they don't have an ABR). Although I live nearby
Thanks for the advice, as for the timescale I am used to fast effective repairs goes with my job as an engineer, Beomatt
I too am an engineer - my ABR frames are underneath my piano upstairs (and have been for a good while) waiting for me to do something with them. (My RL60's currently have the tuned port

Very well done (and very quickly too I must say). Regarding the bass performance - if they are stood directly on the floor the bass is definitely more prominent. I think they sound better (and more controlled) on the floor stands - if you don't have them they do crop up fairly regularly on ebay, the RL60 versions are the ones to look out for, the

Hi snahl - Welcome to Beoworld. If you tell us where you are based it will help folk to recommend a potential repairer for your CD5500. The CD50 does work with the BS5500 (in fact at the release of the BS5500 the CD50 was sold with it as the CD5500 wasn't available until a while later). They do sound different, some say the CD50 has a more "analogue"

Simon, That must have taken some typing - I hope you come back from your jollies refreshed and raring to go. Dave.

Of course I knew the answer but couldn't say as it was Wednesday©
