My bad - I assumed there would be a reset button on the MCP5000 as I'm sure there is one on the later MCP5500's onwards. Try a hard reset - simply unplug your Beomaster 5000 from the mains for 10 minutes and see what happens. It is beginning to look like a problem with the IR reciever on your BM5000 though. Chris.

How do I identify a curved screen one? surely all the CRTs have slightly curved screens - thats partly why I want one! Interestingly - none of the ones on ebay are like my parents - all much newer!
