Yes, I had one of those cases as well. I replaced all the small electrolytics in the power supply (located mostly between the transformer and the rear panel), all electrolytics on / inside the CPU module and there are some on the IR transceiver / front panel board as well. The latter had bad solders too, I guess it flexes a bit with the buttons. Use

No problem If you were thinking about the standby power consumption, the Beomaster 5 actually consumes very little, 1-1.5 watts. Older non-ICE speakers will use a little more - a Beolab 8000 takes 1.8W for example - but the combined standby consumption of a BM/BS5 and two speakers should still stay under five watts. The speakers always remain in standby while plugged in, and so does the BS5/BM5 unless the Beomaster 5 has a mechanical mains switch somewhere (I'm not sure, probably not). Most B&O kit has been designed that way. BTW with the same caveats, your computer stays in standby as well!

Not so bad that you would expect wrong colour decoding, but otherwise I've seen some awful cases of discolorization. Dunno how universal this is, but unlike B&O, many TV sets sold here only do the degaussing when you turn them on with the mechanical mains switch, not when coming out of standby during normal operation. See above... BTW, make sure you don't forget to power down the entire MCL bus before messing with the MCL wiring (unplug both the Beomaster and the wall wart of this extender box)! It's easy to forget...

Brilliant! I'm sure the 100 mA fuse is OK. If these come from a dismantled system, it's possible that the workers just snipped the wires before disconnecting power completely and the fuse blew due to a short circuit. EDIT: the power supply... we don't seem to have the service manuals on site so I don't know what the original rating is
