  • Re: RL 140s - any good?

casdave: Hmm, these are probably not something I'd put in a kitchen as heat does not do the foam surrounds a lot of good, and if you mount them high up they will get a coating of cooking residues, and they are not the easiest of speakers to strip down for washing. Space really isn't a problem, nor is cooking residue, as I don't tend to cook

Don't tell anyone though! Thanks Austin for the advice too. I'd be more than happy to re-foam myself, particularly as there is some expert advice just up the road

7 inch single version of '3 a.m. Eternal' by the KLF. Sounds very excellent on my Beosystem 5000 :)

Thanks again Graham You've confirmed what I suspected - that these speakers are a gem of the second-hand market. Will also have a look for the 7000s if they have the rubber surrounds. Anyone got a pair they want to sell???

Thanks Graham I wondered about foam rot - will check any prospective purchase carefully. What's a fair price for a good pair (- foam rot) with floor stands?

  • RL 140s - any good?

I've been hankering after some speakers for my kitchen for a while now, and wondered what people thought of RL 140s? We've had a lot of discussion recently about what the best speakers are design wise, but I wonder what people rate the 140s like in terms of sound? I plan to run a second set of speakers into my kitchen from my BM 8000 (currently

DoubleR: The warmth of the BM8000 is exceptional. It is well worth to find and restore these systems to their old glory. It pays dividends. Look is still fantastic and if one is not bothered by weight and size... I suggest to seriously invest in a good BM 8000 RR I second this. My BM8000 is my favourite bit of B&O (and I have lots nowadays). People

  • Re: Se*iest B&O speaker - design only

Tom: I don't think the Pentas are se*y, they are a little to bulky imo, and they look a little out-dated in my eyes. BL4 (and may be BL4000) excluded, I think all of the speakers of the actual range look very good, the BL8000 being something special. I think Pentas look more modern than BL8000s, which are now very long in the tooth. It does depend

No, no, no. The king of B&O speakers is:

Alex: I think the amplifiers are fantastic. My BeoMaster 4400 is arguably the best amp I own, and my other BeoMasters also perform very well, better than any modern stuff I own. Heck my 4400 actually sounds better than the Cyrus amps I tried out a year ago or so. Impressive... Can't say I've been so impressed with the older speakers though.
