No it is not true, you do not need a cable, you need 3! More seriously... The Beosound 5 is not a remote, it is a Beosound, like the Beosound 4. You would not put the Beosound 4 on your coffee table. The Beosound 5 can be operated from a distance with either the Beo4 or the Beo5. But I agree that the Beosound 5 only makes sense when operated locally

How does it control the Beomedia 1 when you press the PC Key? Through the Scart or through the ML?
-
If used without a B&O television, like some B&O Video recorder used to have an external IR socket.

steph: Je me demande ce que je vais faire : attendre ou opter pour la solution DVico... Ou Apple TV, qui est aussi controllée par le STB-C
-
A14BEO: I think the real issue here is why he bought an R32?!? If he'd said "my car did not come with a steering wheel as it was supposed to, so I need one urgently", I would understand, but here...

It is the craziest B&O piece, I think! I love mine.

Ignace: From what i have heard it is the BeoMaster 5 that can be ordered separately in the near future. (control via Beo4/Beo5 + infrared-sensor) This brings a question to me: I doubt that it is controlled by a separate IR sensor if you have a Beo TV, otherwise you could not control it from a link room. However, as it does not have a Scart, it won't
-
Beosound 5 does not work on its own, so I doubt it can be ordered without the Beomaster 5.

Il fallait bidouiller le BM1... je ne sais pas si l'on pourra en faire autant avec le BM5
