• Re: Some Quick Impressions of Beovox Pentas vs. Beovox 5000 Panels
I have heard many pairs of Pentas and no matter where I sit, stand or kneel, they always sound muddy when compared to the 5000's. I usually describe the effect as muffled.
Have you ever recapped any? The crossover is quite complex with a lot of components, and I have a feeling that the factory installed

  • Re: Lighting Help

Some do buzz, but it's hard to say how they will be until you try them... Can't really recommend any particular type since you probably won't have the same selection there as we do here. I have a couple of noname 80W max electric transformers that cost less than 20 euros a piece. They are practically silent, the Innovus dimmers that control

  • Re: Lighting Help

For the 12V halogen bulbs, you need a "dimmable halogen transformer". These are all electronic, forget about the cheap iron core transformers. The "energy saving" (hah) or more correctly compact fluorescent lamps generally are not dimmable at all. Wait some more years and we might have reasonable LED replacements... (definitely not

  • Re: Beomaster 7000 reduced remote range

Needing a "warm up" period is rather typical for failing caps (this is often seen with computers that have been running for years - take a backup just prior to shutdown, as they may not start any more! Sometimes a hair dryer helps...). Have you heard about car technicians that charge double if you want to watch over? Seriously speaking, I

  • Re: MCL2A to headphones instead of speakers - ?
Taking this thread in again and thinking about it... I think you have a really neat idea about using the MCL2A and a remote w/ headphones. Do keep us posted as I see a lot of people dusting off their old boxed MCL gear for something like this.
Yeah, I was also thinking that this is a good idea I certainly never

  • Re: MCL2A to headphones instead of speakers - ?

Yeah, that was it Reviewing that thread, I think I would now say to be very careful about the speaker connector polarity so you don't short the "hot" signals from the amp together. There are also amps that don't have either one of the output pins connected to ground, so this setup can't be used at all. Although all modern age Beomasters

  • Re: MCL2A to headphones instead of speakers - ?
Based on this, can I have a following setup: A Beomaster (or a Beocenter) with MCL support > MCL2A > adapter from speaker DIN to headphones socket (with resistors for the level attenuation) > headphones. Controls from Beotime and thrue the MCL2A transceiver.
Well, why not. Put something like 220-330

  • Re: Want to learn to work on vintage B&O audio -where to start?

Here's what I wrote last year and as you see, was flooded with feedback I'll just add that if you don't know how to solder, don't practice with B&O - there's plenty of expendable junk (or just cheap kits that blink a couple of LEDs, or whatever) available for that purpose... The mechanical aspect of the repairs... well, one either

  • Re: A8 fakes?
Okay dad , one third of retail could be possible if I have to deal with a private seller, so still leaves the question, what details should I look at to know what's fake or genuine?
Beats me, I've never even listened to A8's, fake or not But really, why would anyone sell genuine ones constantly at
