dilznik: soundproof: As stated above, I miss the optical drive. One of my guilty pleasures when traveling is picking up CDs and DVDs that make the time spent in hotel rooms not as wasted. Don't you rip all your DVDs and CDs onto your mini anyway? Just copy the data onto the Air and you're set. You save space by not carrying DVDs and CDs and

I'm asking the question because I'm curious as to whether the BL5s will process the "new" HD sound formats properly, or whether it will downsample them. I'd also like to be on top of the specifics as to the signal processing in the speakers, and as this thread demonstrates it's hard to get a clear-cut answer! 1. Will a 24bit

I think it's perfect if you travel a lot - light, slim and powerful. I find myself connecting to an Ethernet cable maybe once a month, which means I don't miss that connector not being built in (and there's a dongle you can use). As stated above, I miss the optical drive. One of my guilty pleasures when traveling is picking up CDs and DVDs

Yes, though not much use for HD on your iPod - and at any rate they're converted to the 640x480 pixel resolution image standard for those. Though this will finally provide a good reason for getting AppleTV -- won't take them long before they begin extending the limited play period.

And this thread goes into the same: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread

....mr anders(son): soundproof: Another beautiful product from Apple, but it doesn't have an optical drive built in, so it's off my map. I like being able to pop in my CDs and DVDs - to either get them into iTunes or to watch them. The big news for me from Macworld was that all the movie studios have now joined in supplying movies for download

Graham1982: This is what amazes me about B&O stuff. That video is old and you can tell but it still looks modern in a weird kind of way. If you took the paneling off it would look fairly recent! I get regular questions from people about my Beosystem 6500: "Is that something new from B&O?"

Thanks. I've hunted for official spec's, as the rates I've found are also in accordance with the message from the Community Forum quoted above. I have run Linn Records higher length and rate files through them without problems, but if the speakers are downconverting that doesn't have to mean much. (I can downconvert these files easily
